"For Karin Parrow, as for the other Göteborg colourists, colour was the primary means of expression. The painting was to capture and convey impressions of sight, smell, and touch. In her paintings, she combined what she actually saw with what she knew about the subject. Rules of perspective were set aside in favour of expression and the overall effect of the image. Colour was used to describe a state of mind rather than to narrate, describe, or distinguish."
