Ernst Nilsson, painter and graphic artist, was born and raised in Uppsala, where he began as a decorative painter. He studied art at the Technical School in Uppsala under drawing teacher C.G. Holmgren. Ernst Nilsson painted the city of Uppsala, its streets and alleys. He also painted its landscapes, often featuring the well-known Uppsala skyline in the composition.
