In the 1930s, Eklöf worked on designing interiors for several hospitals, including Karolinska and Södersjukhuset. In collaboration with physician Bengt Åkerblom, he developed the so-called Åkerblom chair, an ergonomically designed seat with a distinct curve in the backrest.
