More information

Villa Iloniemi in Tuusula was originally built in the late 19th century as a magnificent and richly decorated villa in the Carpenter's Joy style. However, the building has undergone significant changes over the decades through several extensive renovations.

The appearance of the villa has been shaped during different periods by the well-known architects Väinö Vähäkallio, Yrjö Lindegren, and Aarne Ervi.

The renovation work in 1924 was planned by architect Väinö Vähäkallio. At that time, the building was raised, and the design of the tower was simplified from a previously more decorative style to a more restrained expression. Birger Hahl, who worked at Vähäkallio's architectural office, designed, among other things, the furniture for the hall.

Between 1939 and 1940, changes were made in a functionalist spirit, during which the tower in the house's southeastern corner facing the lake was removed. At the same time, the building received a plastered façade.

In 1952, architect Aarne Ervi was responsible for the renovation work. Based on his drawings, the villa was transformed into an impressive representative home for the executive director of the timber company, Tapio Soinne.
