A Tibetan gilt copper alloy Bodhisattva, 16/17th Century.

With inscription to the back. The figure is cast seated in dhysanasana on a double lotus base with right hand held in abhaya mudra. The slender figure is depicted wearing a flowing dhoti, adorned with beaded jewelry, large pendent earrings and a crown. Height 22 cm.

Restored from the inside. Damage, loss of ornaments and base placque.

Provenance

Acquired by the present owner, 1963 in Sikkim, near the Tibetan border.
