More about Alfred Bergström

Alfred Bergström completed a traditional artist education; he studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts alongside travelling to Germany and France. He became known for his depictions of Stockholm and its surrounding, as well as the landscapes of central Sweden. In the conflict between the Academy and the Artists' Association, he advocated for the academic tradition of outdoor painting but was also captivated by the twilight painting style of the turn of the century. His works are represented in the National Museum in Stockholm, as well as in the Art Museums of Gothenburg and Malmö.
