A carved lacquer box with cover, Qing dynasty (1664-1912).

The top of the cover with a circular panel is deeply carved on wan-diaper ground enclosing a man and goats. The rounded sides of the box and cover are carved with panels of flowers. The base is lacquered black, diameter 18,5 cm.

Chips to rim, crazing from dryness of material. Cracks to the inside of the box. Scratches to surface.
