More about James Krenov

James Krenov was an American-Swedish woodworker, furniture designer, and author. Krenov grew up in Alaska and Seattle. He moved to Europe in 1947 and, through a friend in Sweden, was commissioned to create architectural models in wood for a restaurant in Stockholm. He then decided to train as a woodworker and studied for two years from 1957 to 1959 at the Carl Malmsten School of Furniture Studies in Sweden, which was led by Swedish designer Carl Malmsten. He started his own furniture workshop in 1959 in the basement of his home in Bromma, Stockholm.
