Important Winter Sale – Day two

Alexander Calder sculpture sold for 8,5 MSEK

Bukowskis’ Important Winter Sale – the second day of the auction included high-quality art from a variety of periods.

The auction continues on Friday, December 9th, with the Asian Sale. See the catalogue here.

Alexander Calder Untitled

Bukowskis' Important Winter Sale offers an exciting mix that appeals to a broader range of clients, creating a positive energy in the auction. The bidding on Alexander Calder's unique sculpture was very intense, and we are very pleased with the outstanding result for Öyvind Fahlström, whose iconic work ”ADE-LEDIC-NANDER I” sold for SEK 5,375,000, a new record for the artist.

Andy Warhol, ”Goethe”

It’s a magical work that appeals to collectors of both contemporary and older artworks and shows Warhol’s constant demand for his works. It’s always extra fun to be able to offer a complete series that has been kept together.

Marcus Kinge, Specialist Prints

Carl Milles, ”Poseidon”

Milles is a world name, an internationally recognized sculptor who attracts collectors worldwide. The sculpture in the auction is unusually large and a variant of the iconic Poseidon that stands in central Gothenburg. When sculptures of this calibre hit the market, the collectors are there, which is reflected in the fine final price.

Lisa Gartz, Head Specialist Silver and Sculpture

Johan Gustaf Sandberg Midsommardansen

It’s incredibly joyful that this pioneering folk life painting is now coming home to Säfstaholm Castle, where it was painted in 1825 on behalf of Gustaf Trolle-Bonde, the then-owner of the castle.

Johan Jinnerot, Specialist Art and Old master paintings

The results show that Bukowskis, together with Bonhams Network, reaches an international audience and has a selection that attracts buyers and sellers of the highest calibre.
