Lars had a deep personal passion for Sweden’s Age of Greatness and the rich splendour of the 17th century, a love clearly reflected in the collection, with a strong emphasis on Baroque and early Rococo from the late 1600s to the second half of the 18th century. He was not guided by the changing tides of trends that so often influence the antiques trade, but instead trusted his own knowledge and eye – always remaining true to the principle that closest to the original is always best.
What set Lars Broberg apart was his eye for the unusual and the authentic. Regardless of price, a humble lathe-turned beer bowl could be given precedence over a porphyry box, provided the colour was well preserved. And while others might repaint or re-gild, he would instead uncover original surfaces and gently clean existing gilding to bring out the true character of the piece.
We invite you to experience a life’s work devoted to the beautiful, the rare, and the sometimes forgotten.
Welcome to the world of Lars Broberg.
