A framed scroll painting, attributed to Gu Kunbo (1905-1970).

Ink and colour on paper, and with calligraphy. With poem that reads "My incidental strokes turn into clouds and mist; All the green mountains try to reach the sky; The ancient forest has never been touched by the mundane world; which makes people envy the life amongst mountain spring", followed by the inscription "Year Dinghai, beginning of September (Chinese Lunar Month), for the enjoyment of brother Shoutie, Gu Kunbo draw and sign". Measurements 128 x 59 cm.

Rolling folds. Minor stains. Unexamined out of frame.

Provenance

Brother Shoutie refers to Qian Shoutie, another famous master in Chinese painting who is a friend of Gu.
