Josef Frank with Friends – Spring Edition

The themed auction Josef Frank with Friends offers a selection of Svenskt Tenn’s popular design classics. Here you’ll find, among other highlights, the much-admired daybed ‘Couch 775’, the intricate cabinet model ‘2215’ veneered in burl birch and padouk, and the generous and inviting ‘Liljevalchs Sofa’.

Estrid Ericson (1894–1981) began her successful collaboration with Josef Frank (1885–1967) in the 1930s. The first major exhibition of Frank’s designs for Svenskt Tenn was held in 1934 at Liljevalchs Art Gallery. Josef Frank went on to create many iconic pieces that have enhanced both private homes and public interiors, and his furniture remains a cornerstone of Swedish design history.
Estrid Ericson and Josef Frank shared the belief that lighting is central to successful interior design. This themed auction includes examples of Frank’s classic brass lamps, such as ‘Stora Kamelen’ and ‘Smycket’, alongside Svenskt Tenn’s continued innovation in the field, including David Taylor’s ‘F-Air’.

You’ll also find a range of Josef Frank’s immensely popular textiles, known for their vibrant colours and imaginative patterns. Do you prefer the clean lines of ‘La Plata’, the cool urban feel of ‘Manhattan’, or the playful charm of ‘Italian Dinner’?

Welcome to explore and bid on these timeless design classics.
