Summer in Sundborn

In the themed auction Summer in Sundborn, Bukowskis presents a selection of furniture and decorative arts from the 18th century to the early 20th century, inspired by the beautiful surroundings of Sundborn and the charming home of Carl and Karin Larsson, Lilla Hyttnäs.

For over a century, this home has served as an ideal for interior design — not only in Sweden but also internationally. The 1899 book “A Home”, which portrays the couple’s family life and interior design philosophy through text and image, was a great success and made the home widely known. The combination of the then-contemporary Art Nouveau style with traditional crafts and a carefully curated selection of objects creates a harmonious whole that has become a hallmark of the Larssons’ interior style.

Several similar homes emerged around the same time, including the Zorn House in Mora and Ellen Key’s Strand by Lake Vättern. Like Lilla Hyttnäs, they continue to inspire today with their aesthetic appeal and personal character. With these environments as a model, we invite you to explore the selection of objects in the auction. Place your bids on your favourites today!
