Bed headboards: birch. Carved and turned ornaments. Height 120 cm and 92 cm. Width 77 cm.
Open shelf: birch, carved and turned decorations. Height 123 cm, width 62 cm, depth 42 cm.
Wall shelf: birch, width 51 cm, depth 15 cm, height 14 cm.

Partly significant wear. Damades. Loose joints.

More information

In 1898, the Finnish Craft Association announced a furniture design competition with the aim of selecting furnishings in a Finnish style for Finland’s pavilion at the 1900 World Exhibition in Paris. The competition entries were to include designs for the 'furnishing and decoration of a bedroom,' and architect Yrjö Blomstedt’s proposal was awarded second prize. Excerpts from the design drawings were published in the journal Suomen Teollisuuslehti, issue no. 22, in 1898.
The chest of drawers exhibited at the Heinola City Museum has the same details as the bed headboards that is for sale, and there are also other pieces of furniture that correspond to the drawings in the competition proposals
