Modern Design, Timeless Weave

Rya motifs began to free themselves from traditional narrative imagery and established uses, absorbing influences from modernism and evolving into an integral part of textile art. Over time, the rya rug increasingly came to be recognized as an independent work of art, rather than merely a decorative textile. Its expressive freedom expanded, the color palette intensified, compositions became more asymmetrical, and themes addressing society, nature, and the values of craftsmanship emerged. In this way, the rya rug firmly established its place as a central phenomenon in textile art and also found a presence in public spaces. Today, the rya rug has regained a strong position. The importance of craftsmanship, ecological awareness, and material experimentation has become increasingly evident, and the rya rug continues to be used in contemporary art as an expression that both shapes the space and carries substantial meaning. We are pleased to present a collection of rya rugs that tell the story of this rich and multifaceted tradition up to the present day.
