Helge Linden är en av de främsta representanterna för purism i Sverige, vid sidan av Torsten Jovinge. Purismen är en stil som karaktäriseras av detaljlöshet, stora hela ytor, dämpade färger och strama, renodlade former, ofta omgivna av mörka konturer.
Under 1940- och 1950-talen var Helge Linden Norrlands kanske mest uppmärksammade målare, med bland annat fina landskapsmålningar. Han studerade på Carl Wilhelmsons Målarskola i Stockholm samt åkte på flera studieresor till Italien, Tyskland och Frankrike.
Representerad på Moderna Museet, Nationalmuseum, Göteborgs konstmuseum och museer i Umeå, Östersund, Hudiksvall och Borås. Dessutom ett stort antal offentliga verk samt väggmålningar och altartavlor.
