Claesson Koivisto Rune in Japan

Japanese design culture has historically been viewed with awe by professionals in Scandinavia. Recently however, a strong and broader appreciation and understanding of its greatness is emerging. In this context, Claesson Koivisto Rune hold a unique key – no other Swedish designer/architect, contemporary or historic, has had the same intense, longstanding and consistent collaboration with Japan. Culminated this year with the awarding of the Interior Designer of the Year in Japan – an astonishing feat for a non-Japanese office.
Bukowskis presents a contemporary Swedish-Japanese collaborations, in an extensive exhibition, followed by an auction. Over 100 lots represent the majority of items by Claesson Koivisto Rune that was ever conceived, designed or manufactured in Japan over the last three decades.
Design items include handmade furniture by Japanese master craftsmen, upholstered seating conceived for specific own architectural projects in Japan, ceramics, metalwork, washi paper lamps, mass manufactured plastic containers, art prints, textile, and so much more. Most of which has never before been shown outside of Japan. Neither have all of these objects ever been gathered together to be experienced at the same time.
In addition to the Claesson Koivisto Rune designs, a small selection of Japanese antiques and art prints will complement the exhibition. Claesson Koivisto Rune is also acting as the exhibition architect.
