A vintage Marimekko apron dress designed by Liisa Suvanto in 1969, in the famous Piccolo pattern by Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi.
The Mariessu (Apron) dress with two front pockets is a genuine Marimekko classic, which has been reinterpreted with different patterns many times throughout the years. This pink colorway, however, is rare for this model.

About the dress designer
Liisa Suvanto (1910–1983) introduced a new look to Marimekko’s fashion wear with her sculptural garments made from hand-knitted woolen fabrics. Suvanto worked at Marimekko from 1960 till 1975 and, especially in the 1970s, she also designed clothes in printed cotton fabrics.
About the print designer
Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi (b. 1930) is a Finnish textile designer. Originally a trained ceramist from the Institute of Industrial Arts, she joined Marimekko in 1953 to design clothing and printed fabrics. Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi had a significant impact on the development of Marimekko’s original fashion line. Upon their release, her designs were often considered avant-garde but later turned into genuine Marimekko classics. Eskolin-Nurmesniemi worked for Marimekko until 1960.
