Scandinavian Design Classics

In this theme auction, Bukowskis presents a curated selection of items that can all be described as Scandinavian design classics. Modern Scandinavian design is well-known worldwide and is just as sought after today as it was over half a century ago. Some distinctive features are natural materials, clean lines, and the interplay between form and function.

The theme auction showcases several Danish design classics such as Arne Jacobsen's ”Myran” and ”Sjuan”, as well as Hans J. Wegner's ”Ox Chair”. In the Swedish section, you'll find a unique bookshelf by Carl Malmsten from 1962, the armchair ”Pernilla” by Bruno Mathsson, and the ”Paprika” vase designed by Anna-Lisa Thomson for Upsala-Ekeby. The auction also includes a number of Finnish design items, including a pair of "Chaco" armchairs designed by Ilmari Tapiovaara and a decorative tray designed by Birger Kaipiainen for Arabia.

Scandinavia boasts a range of design classics, and we are pleased to present some of them in this themed auction. Feel free to explore the entire catalogue to be inspired and learn more about them.
