Veit Laurent Kurz was born in 1989 in Erbach, Germany, and now lives and works in Berlin. He studied at the Academy of Art and Design in Offenbach in 2009 and at the Staatliche Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Frankfurt in 2012. He expands upon an imagined, artificial biosphere the artist has crafted over the past several years. His art integrates figures, architecture, and scenography. The artist explores the biology of things, his art an exploration of how things operate. Some of his recent exhibitions have been at Conditions, Toronto; Weiss Falk, Zurich; Commercial Street, Los Angeles; and Liste Art Fair, Basel. He is the recipient of the 42nd Matteo Olivero Art Award and the 4th Battaglia Foundry Sculpture Prize.
