Helsinki Winter Sale

Bukowskis presents Helsinki Winter Sale – Finland’s leading auction for art, works of art, silver, and jewellery. The auction offers a selection of classic, modern, and contemporary works. Among the highlights are works by some of Finland’s most prominent artists, including Helene Schjerfbeck, Ellen Thesleff, Lars-Gunnar Nordström, Tove Jansson and Reidar Särestöniemi.

A standout work in the auction is Helene Schjerfbeck’s painting ”Mother” from 1903. When Schjerfbeck relocated from Helsinki to Hyvinkää in 1902, her mother naturally became her model, as they shared both room and kitchen. During this period, Schjerfbeck produced several early portraits of her mother, gradually refining and modernising her style. ”Mother” constitutes an important work from Schjerfbeck’s early modernist phase.

The auction also features an exclusive collection of jewellery, silver and works of art, spanning a period from the 18th century to the late 20th century.
