Linn Fernström – Drypoint Engravings and Works on Paper

Linn Fernström is one of Sweden’s most established and widely recognised artists, whose work has achieved considerable reach both nationally and internationally. Since graduating from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm, in 1999, she has developed an artistic practice that appeals far beyond the traditional boundaries of the art world, characterised by a dreamlike, evocative and at times dark visual language.

With an exceptionally assured hand, Fernström creates images in which every line and detail carries significance. Her landscapes are populated by people, animals and vegetation that appear both fragile and powerful. She often uses herself as a motif in the form of an alter ego, through which she explores exposure and vulnerability—themes set in contrast to a rich symbolism and an almost magical pictorial language. Monkeys, parrots and leopards recur as meaningful elements in her work.

Alongside her painting, Linn Fernström has worked extensively with graphic techniques and has, among other things, produced series of drypoint engravings in 2008 and 2012. Bukowskis is delighted to present a collection of exceptionally high quality, comprising drypoint engravings and works on paper.
