Helge Dahlman

Helge Dahlman (1924–1979) was a multifaceted artist. He made his breakthrough as an expressionist, but in the 1950s, like his fellow artists Tuomas von Boehm and Tapani Raittila, he represented pure painting. The 1960s brought a new colourfulness, pointillism and post-impressionism to his work, while in the 1970s he fascinatingly combined influences from both plein air- and landscape painting. From a distance, it is clear that Dahlman's paintings are the work of a true ‘outdoorsman’. His unique ability to convey emotions in his paintings has earned him a large following of admirers. Among the accolades Helge Dahlman received for his artistry was the Pro Finlandia Medal, which he was awarded in 1964.
