The overall impression is good. Paper glued to a backboard. Yellowed and wavy paper. A small stain. Occasional minor craquelure. Minor repair to the upper edge. Isolated, minor paint losses.

As Erik Blomberg writes, the work is "a copy of Judith Leyster after an original by Frans Hals, but the watercolour has not suffered for it: in the sparkling rhythm of movement, in the lavish play of shimmering highlights and dark shadows, it surpasses its prototype."
