More information

John Tesch was the son of the merchant Johan Wilhelm Tesch and Emilie Mathilda Justelius. He studied at the educational institution in Eksjö, became a pharmacy student in 1860 and obtained a pharmacy studies degree in 1865 and a pharmacy degree in 1873. After a study trip to the continent, he worked at a pharmacy in Norrköping 1873–1875, he bought the Lejonet pharmacy in Malmö in 1881 and sold it in 1898. Under his management, the pharmacy reached an extraordinary boom and became one of the largest in Europe. Its field of activity was significantly expanded, among other things, by Tesch establishing connections abroad in drugs and medicinal products. The old premises became too cramped, and a new building was started in 1897. After leaving the pharmacy business, Tesch gradually began to take part in larger companies. In 1905, he founded AB Malmö Folkbank, where he was chairman of the board and acting director until its incorporation into AB Industribanken in 1917. In 1916, he received the newly established position of Swiss consul in Malmö. With many interests, Tesch was from 1892 a board member of the Malmö museum. He was very helpful and actively participated in the work of several charitable institutions (Wikipedia)
