Familjen Gyllensvärd köpte Bergs herrgård på 1840-talet. Viktor Rydberg hyrde ett rum med utsikt över Bergsjön vilken omnämns i hans "Singoalla". Författaren Elin Wägner bodde även hon en tid på 1920-talet på Lilla Björka i Berg.
