Highlights within Contemporary Art

The auction included a dynamic selection of Swedish and international design from the 1960s to today, where exclusive and unique furniture and collector's items were particularly sought-after.

International design stars to mention in this context are Bruno Moinard and Gabriella Crespi, whose table "Elisse" sold for incredible 184 875 SEK followed by the bench "Artefact # 1" by acclaimed Nick Ross. Roberto Matta's chair "Tarquina", sold at remarkable 153 000 SEK after intensive bidding.

We saw a great international interest from collectors and private individuals for both Swedish and international design. Intensive bidding on most items with final prices well above estimate, says Jonatan Jahn, Specialist Design and 20th-21st Century Works of Art.

The design department was followed by photography and contemporary art where Richard Pettibone's painting "Andy Warhol Campbell´s Soup Can - Vegetable Soup" is small in size but ended big. Bidding started at SEK 100 000 but did not stop until it reached a final price of SEK 318 500. Together with the success for Christo's work "Package on a hand truck (Project)", this is a good example showing that pop art and contemporary classics are still sought-after by the market.
