The frame was most possibly obtained by Henrik van Gilse van der Pals, the son of Cornelia Claus, the woman in the photograph. The van Gilse van der Pals were a Dutch trade and industrial family living in S:t Petersburg were the son, Henrik van Gilse van der Pals was connected to the trade company Leopold Neuscheler. During the revolution the family fled to Finland.
