Josef Frank and Friends – Summer Edition

This summer’s themed auction, Josef Frank and Friends, features many of Svenskt Tenn’s beloved design classics. Among the notable items is the red-lacquered mirror, designed by Josef Frank based on an idea by Estrid Ericson. A similar model was presented as early as around 1940, originally framed in snakeskin.

Why not serve your summer drinks on one of Frank’s classic tea trolleys, model 691, available in various colours, and then sink into one of the designer’s inviting and generous sofas, such as the ’Långsoffan’ or the ’Liljevalchssoffan’? Also, don’t miss the fine vintage examples of Josef Frank’s popular mahogany bookcases. For those interested in contemporary design, there’s also Jonas Bohlin’s sleek dining table ’À Table’ and Per Öberg’s minimalist coffee table ’Nizza’.

Estrid Ericson (1894–1981) began her successful collaboration with Josef Frank (1885–1967) in the 1930s. The first major exhibition of Frank’s work for Svenskt Tenn was held at Liljevalchs Art Gallery in 1934. Frank would go on to create many classics that have enhanced both private homes and public interiors. His furniture has become iconic in the history of Swedish design. Both Ericson and Frank shared the belief that lighting is central to successful interior design.

Take the opportunity to browse the auction’s selection of Josef Frank’s popular lamps, including the three-armed floor lamp, model no. 2599.

Welcome to explore and bid on these timeless design classics.
