Post-War Design F608

The theme auction Post-War Design presents a curated selection of design objects from the 1950s onwards. The focus is primarily on furniture, but lighting and art glass are also represented. Characteristic of this period are the clean lines, the balance between form and function, and the use of natural materials, steel, and, for the time, new innovations such as fiberglass and plastic.

The years following the end of the Second World War were marked by significant changes, especially within the design world. Lifestyles became more relaxed for many people, which increased the demand for functional and comfortable furniture. Scandinavian, American, and Italian designers led the development, and in this auction, we present excellent examples of their work.

Well-known names such as Bruno Mathsson, Carl-Axel Acking, Arne Jacobsen, Finn Juhl, Hans J. Wegner, and Charles & Ray Eames are represented here. What they all have in common is that their works have withstood the shifting style ideals of time and remain relevant to this day.

Welcome to explore the auction and place bids on your favourites.
