We have spoken with Louise Wrede, Specialist Contemporary Art, who talks about the selection at this spring's Contemporary Art & Design. She also takes the opportunity to list some of her favourite objects among the substantial amount of international contemporary art, prints and photography at this spring's auction.
What makes Contemporary Art & Design of this spring unique?
– At this spring's Contemporary Art & Design auction, we have a fantastic selection of contemporary Swedish and international art. We have several museum-worthy works such as Ola Billgren's "Terrain Vague" from 1987 and "Målning" from 1968-69, as well as the works "Objekt" and "Runda bordet" by Karin Mamma Andersson created in 2000. It is also exciting to be able to present Lena Cronqvist's "Patiens" and Ulla Wiggen's "Sändare," which are being offered at auction for the first time. In addition to the works I have mentioned, we have a little more than 500 objects to take a closer look at during our viewing from April 21st-25th, with the auction on April 26th.

Ulla Wiggen "Sändare"
It feels very exciting to present Ulla Wiggen's "Sändare." The work is from 1968 and was included in her debut exhibition at Galleri Kavaletten. "Sändare" has been in the same possession since the work was acquired. Despite being over 80 years old, Ulla Wiggen is still highly relevant with exhibitions, and most recently she participated in the Venice Biennale with several works.
Estimate: 150 000 - 200 000 SEK

Linn Fernström "Övermålat"
The work "Övermålat" by Linn Fernström was included in Fernström's acclaimed exhibition at Lars Bohman Gallery in 2014. The painting has everything; the flowers, the baby, the self-portrait, the bird, and the monkey. I think it is wonderful!
Estimate: 500 000 - 600 000 SEK

Sarah Cromarty "Lazy Baby"
Sarah Cromarty passed away at the age of 37. Her legacy is represented by the Klowdenmann Gallery in LA, and it is the first time that one of her works is being offered at auction. The three-dimensional effect in the work "Lazy Baby" is typical of Cromarty and the piece offers details to take a closer look at.
Estimate: 12 000 - 15 000 SEK

Dan Wolgers "Här slutar allmän väg"
The famous photograph "Här slutar allmän väg" from 1995 has now become a classic artwork and is included in the collections of the Moderna Museet. The auction includes two more works by Wolgers; "Nattfiskare" and the popular candle holder "Källa".
