Josef Frank and Friends – Autumn Edition

Autumn is here, and Bukowskis is pleased to present a richly curated themed auction featuring many of Svenskt Tenn’s sought-after design classics. One of the highlights is Josef Frank’s ribbed so-called “The Cardboard Cabinet” model 2192, designed in 1954. The cabinet, which is produced in two different sizes and various colors, is today one of the company’s most beloved cabinet models. Also featured is a wide selection of Frank’s generously upholstered furniture in different styles, such as the curved sofa, model 968, reupholstered in a bouclé fabric, and the zebra-striped footstool, model 703.

Estrid Ericson consistently had the ability to attract talented designers who renewed the product range. This tradition has continued at Svenskt Tenn. In addition to the beloved classics by Josef Frank and Estrid Ericson, several contemporary designs are also represented here. For the set table, for instance, there is Carina Seth Andersson’s iconic vase “Dagg” from 2009 and Sebastian Schildt’s now-classic pewter watering can from 2002. Also featured are Jonas Bohlin’s dining table “A Table,” a contemporary interpretation inspired by Frank’s design language, and Eva Schildt’s side table “Oolong” from 2012.

Estrid Ericson (1894–1981) began her successful collaboration with Josef Frank (1885–1967) in the 1930s. The first major exhibition of Frank’s work for Svenskt Tenn was held in 1934 at Liljevalchs art gallery. Josef Frank went on to create many classics that have enriched both private homes and public spaces, and his furniture has become an integral part of Swedish design history. Take the opportunity to explore the auction’s selection of Svenskt Tenn’s popular and timeless design objects – and don’t miss your chance to place a bid today!
