Max Papart F697

Max Papart was born in Marseille, France, in 1911. He was a multi-talented artist who utilized a variety of techniques, among them carborundum etching, which was particularly characteristic of his work. His idiosyncratic style, notable for depictions of circus performers, birds, figures, and still lifes—rendered in vibrant colours and playful compositions—reflects strong influences of Cubism. This theme auction includes prints, oil paintings, gouaches, and collages from various decades.
