Baluster shape mug with acanthus leaf on scroll handle, round base. Engraving underneath dated 1755. Height 12.5 cm, length 13 cm, base diameter 9 cm. Weight 416 g.

Wear due to age and use, a few scratches.

Osmo Lares was a distinguished Finnish diplomat who devoted his career to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His early postings took him to Prague (1956–1959), Cologne (1960–1964), and Paris (1966–1969). He subsequently served as Ambassador to Tokyo – with side accreditation to Seoul – from 1972 to 1978, followed by appointments to Canberra (1983–1987), The Hague (1987–1989), and Dublin (1989–1991).
