Detta klassiska tyg skapades 1964, efter att Marimekkos grundare Armi Ratia hade förbjudit blommor i företagets mönster. Designern Maija Isola trotsade förbudet och ritade en hel kollektion med blommönster som kändes så nya och unika att Armi till slut tog åtta av dem i produktion. Ett av de mönster hon godkände var Unikko.
