Signed limited edition, number 36 of 205 copies on Arches, and NB: one of the first 45 copies with an extra suite of the lithographs on papier de chine. Signed in pencil by Reverdy.

(The total edition was of XV copies HC, and 205 on Arches).

Unsewn gatherings of calligraphic text (facsimile of the author’s handwritten poems), 152 pp., including 11 original colour lithographs. Original cream illustrated paper-covered portfolio, housed in chemise of grey paper boards and matching slipcase.

Spine of portfolio faded, hinges worn, slipcase unevenly faded and worn and with a few cracks. A few instances of very slight / insignificant offsetting of the lithographs.

Provenance: Bookplate of Gerard Bonnier (1917-1987).

NB: With an extra suite of the 11 lithographs on papier de chine.

These lithographs by Juan Gris were made as illustrations to poems by Reverdy, but the original project was cut short by the artist’s death in 1927. The publication was undertaken by Reverdy in 1955.
