Poul Henningsen, a 'PH 4/3' table lamp for Louis Poulsen, Denmark.
Opal-colored glass shades, lamp base and holder in nickel-plated brass. Height 52 cm. Diameter 40- 20-11 cm.
Wear due to age and use. Marks. Chips on the middle shade. The smallest shade is new production. Defected shade included. Colour differences on the shdes. Electrical function not tested. Electrical wiring is not guaranteed by Bukowskis. Tranportation dismantled.

Bryggman and Aalto were the most advanced architects in our country during the early 1920's. They traveled extensively to major European cities, especially Italy, and gained through their travels international influences and ideas for their architectural projects.
On these trips they met their continental colleagues and saw their houses and designs. Bryggman had become acquainted in the middle of the 20th century with Poul Henningsen and his fresh and open-minded modern lamps. Soon Bryggman also introduced his close colleague Alvar Aalto to Henningsen. The trio became close friends and both Bryggman and Aalto became the first Finnish architects to use Henningsen lamps in their interiors. Bryggman used them at Hotel Hospitz-Betel and Hotel Seurahuone among others and Aalto in his churches but especially in Maalaistentalo which was almost completely lit with PH luminaires, except for a couple of Aalto's own luminaires, which were his first modern lamps.
At one of these meetings, Henningsen donated a table lamp to Bryggman, which is now for sale.
