John (Johan) Ericsson var en svensk uppfinnare född 1803 i Långbanshyttan. Han var verksam i England och USA och konstruerade bland annat skeppet USS Monitor. Han dog i USA 1889 men fick en högtidlig likfärd i Sverige 1890 innan han begravdes i Filipstad.
