The high prices and extensive selection of items are proof that there is an established market for quality timepieces both in Sweden and abroad. Bukowski’s watch specialists, Tony Frank and Mikael Wallhagen, summarised the auction:

Tony Frank: what’s the verdict now that the dust has settled after the first major timepiece auction at Bukowskis, Important Timepieces?
“It’s always a bit nerve-racking before it starts, but I’m delighted at the result. There was a huge amount of interest and we had some great items. We’ve also attracted lots of new foreign customers from Switzerland, the US, Italy and the UK. We’ve now put Bukowski’s timepiece auctions on the map, both in Sweden and internationally. It was fantastic to see so many unusual items in excellent condition. I’d particularly like to highlight no 24 Omega Railmaster, and 114, the stunning Nina Rindt from Universal.”

Mikael Wallhagen said of the auction’s most expensive item, the Rolex Paul Newman Daytona, with a final price of SEK 1,286,000:
“There is always a lot of interest in Rolex Paul Newman. And this one was in excellent condition! So we did expect it to go for a high price.”

Mikael – what’s the future for timepiece auctions looking like in Scandinavia?
“It’s looking very promising. Interest in quality timepieces is steadily growing, and customers are becoming increasingly knowledgeable and engaged, which is fantastic. However, it’s an area that requires expertise in order to avoid the pitfalls, which is where an auction house like Bukowskis comes in.”
