Bukowskis is proud to have launched the Important Spring Sales art department by selling one of Sweden's most prominent private collections, Hans Erik Börjeson's Collection, with outstanding results and a White Glove sale. All art works were sold with spectacular final prices, which show a great national and international interest in this highly personal and dynamic collection.
The intense and energy bidding of Hans Erik Börjeson's Collection began with Ivar Arosenius aquarelles on paper that went high above the estimate price. The work "Porträtt av Axel Törneman" was sold for an outstanding final price of 165,000 SEK and is a fantastic piece that symbolizes the artist's distinctive expression with watercolours. Additionaly, the Hans Erik Börjeson's collection offered several significant works by our Swedish masters, such as Anders Zorn, Carl Larsson and Carl Kylberg, as well as works by international artists such as Pablo Picasso, all of which were sold with great success and high over the estimate.
The collection's most notable work, Anders Zorn's "Fish Market in St. Ives” achieved a phenomenal final price of 17 425 000 SEK and became the auction's most expensive artwork. Several lots sold for over a million SEK were achieved, Carl Larsson’s "Brita, a cat and a sandwich" ended at an incredible prince of 5 512 500 SEK, "Våridyll" also by Carl Larsson reached a fine final price of 1 960 000 SEK, and another Anders Zorn, "Breakfast in the green", achieved 1 286 250 SEK. In addition to offering world-class art, the auction presented several eye-catching glazed ceramic plates, signed Pablo Picasso from Madoura, Vallauris, France, which reached final prices high over the estimates.
