A four-piece silver tea and coffee service, marks of John McMullin, Philadelphia, circa 1820.

Comprising coffee pot, teapot, sugar bowl with lid and a cream jug; each vase-shaped, on spreading circular foot with decor of palmettes and pearlstrings, the coffee pot and the teapot with foliate scroll handle and spout termination in a bird's head, the sugar bowl with foliate scroll loop handles with a ram's head, the cream jug with flying scroll handle terminating in a bird's head, the domed covers rising to a circular pedestal supporting a bud finial issuing from a foliate calyx, the sides engraved with script initials DL, the teapot and cream jug later engraved on the foot 1819, each marked. Height of coffee pot 10 3/4 in., 27, 5 cm. Total weight 3323 g.

Minor wear and scattered scratchmarks due to age and use. Some dent and minor chip.
The spikes/attachments on the handles have come out a little on the tea- and coffee pot. The handles are therefore a little loose. Otherwise good condition.
