Lars Broberg’s Collection, Part I: The Search for the Genuine

In literary circles, one sometimes speaks of “a writer’s writer” – and Lars Broberg could well be described as an "antiques dealer’s antiques dealer". Born in 1939, he began his career in Nyköping in the 1960s, later relocating to premises in Stockholm’s Old Town before eventually opening a shop in Östermalm.

The warmly decorated boutique on Grev Turegatan became a gathering place for all who loved cultural artefacts – a space where even seasoned connoisseurs could discover objects that sparked both delight and desire. Over time, Lars Broberg came to be seen as something of a Nestor in the field, renowned for his discerning eye and his carefully curated selection of antiques and artworks.

Bukowskis is honoured to present The Collection of Lars Broberg. Many of the pieces now offered at auction are museum-worthy in the truest sense of the word – with comparable examples found only in institutional collections. The collection is being presented in three parts. The first, “The Collection of Lars Broberg, Part I: In Search of the Genuine”, features around one hundred objects and will conclude on October 19. This will be followed by a broader selection in the Important Winter Sale later in December, and finally, Part II will be presented in January. Read more
