The Onion Pattern (German: Zwiebelmuster, English: Blue Onion) is a cobalt blue porcelain design that was created after 1730 and has since been hand-painted in Meissen, Saxony, in present-day Germany.
The term onion pattern (Zwiebelmuster) first emerged in the 19th century, and the pattern on the plate's rim actually depicts pomegranates and peaches, symbols of fertility and long life. In the center of the plate, on the well, bamboo, peonies, and asters are found.
