Friedrich Wilhelm Karl von Schmettau lived between 1743 to 1806. He worked as a cartographer and German Field Marshall. He hailed from Germany and was renowned as one of the pioneering cartographers of the 18th century.

Born on April 24, 1743, Friedrich Wilhelm Karl von Schmettau was also known to be the Royal Lieutant General of Prussia. As per records Castle Kopenick was once the property of Friedrich Wilhelm Karl von Schmettau.
