Bukowskis' specialists at contemporary art and photographs: Louise Wrede and Karin Aringer.

Five quick questions to our experts

Prior to this spring’s major hammer auction within contemporary art, photographs and prints, we have asked Bukowskis' contemporary specialists Louise Wrede and Karin Aringer about trends within the contemporary scene. Here you can get an exclusive insight about artworks and artists that will be up for sale on Contemporary Art & Design on April 9th.

– Which contemporary artists are you extra excited about in this spring’s auction?
Petra Cortright, Alex Da Corte, Klara Lidén and NUG.

– Prints are sought-after from our customers, why are contemporary prints so demanded?
Qualitative print is a good start if you wish to collect art. Prints by the most famous artists, such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, have a good value enhancement over time and they are also on an affordable price level compared to the original works by these artists.

– What is trending on the contemporary auction market right now?
There is a huge demand for Contemporary Classics, that is well-known artists who had their breakthrough in the 1960s and 1970s. New price records were achieved during 2018 when collectors and institutions fought about the best art works. In Sweden, sculpture and objects in the borderline between art and design, attracts the buyers. Photographs is still very popular, preferably decorative color prints connected to pop-culture and fashion.

– Which art works do you believe will be most talked-about in this fall’s Contemporary Art & Design?
We believe that Ola Billgren’s wonderful ”Cityscape 1989” will be popular. Alexander Klingspor’s ”Hypnotica Terrible” will probably also be debated.
