Consignments for Modern Art + Design

Five quick questions to our experts

Consignments are accepted to this spring’s major design hammer auction. Prior to the auction, we have asked Bukowskis’ modern design specialists Eva Seeman, Camilla Behrer and Jonatan Jahn about which objects that are trending at the moment.

Which designers are you extra excited about in this spring’s auction?
The most influential designers from the modern golden age, around the mid 20th century, designers such as Axel Einar Hjorth, Finn Juhl, Josef Frank, Estrid Ericson, Greta Magnusson Grossman, Anna Petrus, Alvar Aalto, Hans J Wegner, Märta Måås-Fjetterström, Barbro Nilsson and many more.

Ceramics and glass are sought-after from our customers, why is it so demanded?
Traditionally these are strong collector’s fields, both in Sweden and internationally. Swedish glass and ceramics from the 20th century are often of very high artistry quality and with its strong sculptural value, today these objects are very appreciated both to collect and to decorate with.

Have you already now got some exciting objects for this spring’s auction?
Yes, it looks like it is going to be a very exciting season with highlights in all categories with top lots by designers such as Axel Einar Hjorth, Berndt Friberg, Märta Måås-Fjetterström, Poul Kjaerholm and René Lalique.

Which art works do you believe will be most talked-about on the this fall’s Modern Art + Design?
Prior to this spring’s Modern Art + Design auction we plan to curate a department with Swedish Modern with exciting objects from the 1930s and 50s, objects we believe is very trendy right now.

With only a couple of week left for final consignments, are there any specific art works you would like to accept?
Ceramics by Axel Salto, Wilhelm Kåge, Berndt Friberg, Stig Lindberg, Michael Schilkin and preferable faiances by Pablo Picasso from his workshop in Madoura. Also glass from Orrefors with names such as Gate, Hald, Öhrström and Lindstrand but also Italian glass from Venini and Vistosi.
