Bukowskis strengthens its leading position in Contemporary Art & Design

– Another new international record was set by the master of portraits, the British photographer Terry O’Neill when Bukowskis sold the iconic image of Brigitte Bardot for a final price of SEK 637,500. The photograph accounted for the departments most expensive work sold, and portraits were generally in high demand. Some fine examples are Bruno Ehr’s portrait of Carl XVI Gustaf, Dominique Tarlé’s image of Mick Jagger and Giséle Freund’s classic author and artist portraits. Among the contemporary conceptual photography, Nathalia Edenmont’s beautiful image with lilies, Michel Comte’s fast-paced image of the woman and zebra together with Miriam Bäckström’s image from the series “Mirrors”, attracted several bidders, says Karin Aringer, Specialist Photography and Contemporary Art.

– A new world record of the “Bergman Suite” by Andy Warhol and successful results for all seven works by Roy Lichtenstein, with several bidders from all over the world, shows that we can sell prints at international high final prices. Many of the buyers were significant collectors, says Marcus Kinge, Specialist Prints.

– This season’s eclectic design selection included, in addition to Swedish and international classics, an extensive collection of 1970s design, a category that we see an increased interest in among collectors. Design icons such as Ingo Maurer, Angelo Mangiarotti, Paulo Palucco and Lindsey Adelman resulted in prices high above estimate with a new range of bidders. Exclusive objects from Källemo sold at high final prices alongside postmodern designers, which have become more popular with bidders globally, says Jonatan Jahn, Specialist Contemporary Design.
