Nordic Classicism & Modernist Design F622

Nordic Classicism, known in Sweden as Swedish Grace, was a style that blossomed in the Nordic countries between 1910 and 1930. Architects and designers sought a more objective and austere design language based on classical style ideals. When neoclassicism transitioned into modernism around 1930, it was not uncommon to find objects designed in a mixture of the two styles. The stripped-down functionalism where form follows function subsequently gained a strong foothold in the Nordic countries. Bukowskis proudly presents a themed auction with curated Swedish and Finnish design from the 1920s and 1930s.

Consignments are ongoing for our upcoming live auction Modern Art & Design, 20–21 May.
